New Year, New You!

The new year is upon us & with that comes resolutions for many people. If yours is to get in shape one of the things you can do to help you stick with it is to change the way you think about exercise. Instead of thinking of exercise as a chore or something you have to do, think of the benefits you'll reap from it. Re-frame exercise from being a chore to a gift. Don't include things like "I need to lose weight" in your self-talk, instead think of the increased energy you'll gain from exercising, how you'll be less tired & able to keep up with the kids. Don't look at changing your diet to a healthier one as self denial, but as taking care of your self so that you can avoid disease & have more quality years with your loved ones. We live in an instant gratification world, but when it comes to self care, instant gratification is most often the least gratifying when it comes to the things that matter most to people. If your life ended tomorrow would the years of sweets & tv be the best memories that you'd reflect on or would it be the experiences & the time spent with loved ones? Now if you could trade some of those unhealthy food choices & sedentary hours for more time would you? Of course, we all would. So this year think of the benefits to yourself & those you care about. Make 2016 the year that you commit to your plan & achieve your goals. And as always, contact me, I'm here to help.
